Maranatha Volunteers Finland, ry (MVF, ry) functions in conjunction with Maranatha Volunteers International (MVI), based in Sacramento, California. We are a Christian organization, dedicated to helping people around the world through the construction of urgently needed buildings (schools, clinics, churches, homes). We’re doing what we can to help alleviate poverty on the globe and at the same time spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Only a fraction of our volunteers are professional builders, so don’t be intimidated if all you’re armed with is a desire to help. That’s the first step.

Between the years of 1989 and 2010 we have had 39 official projects of which 5 were in Finland and 34 in various countries spanning 5 continents.

This web site is new and we are adding to it continually. Please contact one of our board members if you are interested in joining us on a project or otherwise would like information about our organization. (If you are interested in participating in a project with other English speakers, check out the invitational projects that Maranatha Volunteers International has going. You can find them on their website, www.maranatha.org)

If you would like to join us on one of our projects from Finland,  and can’t follow the Finnish link, contact us. We can let you know what projects are coming up. Projects are typically from 2-3 weeks in length. It’s a safe way to experience an exotic country and its culture and people in a way that normal travel doesn’t allow.

Who can participate?

  • Typically the groups are made up of all ages of volunteers. Some have previous experience building, some don’t. The only requirement is a desire to serve. An added plus is an adaptable spirit, since unexpected things always come up while on these projects.
  • If you’re not interested in the actual construction aspect of the building project, but would like to participate, there are other jobs to do—keeping the worksite tidy, cleaning, painting, assisting a skilled worker, working in food service, doing outreach in the community (medical, evangelical), etc.

  1. BEWARE!
The ’organization’ listed above (Centre for Information Technology CIT) is a group of scammers misrepresenting themselves as a charity non-profit group which de-frauded my group of charity workers. Please exercise extreme caution when approached by unknown groups asking for ’partnership’, to avoid similar unfortunate outcomes. There are many groups doing good work in Africa, but many like this one out to intercept donations and goodwill intended for the poor.
